Description:
PLATO has been developed at Derby for new undergraduates but is equally suitable for A level students preparing for University entry and is an ideal companion to our ‘Links to HE’ product.
Plagiarism is a hot topic at the moment in schools as in HE. According to the JISC Plagiarism Advisory Service:
“It is often argued that schools do not do enough to inform their pupils of what does and does not amount to `plagiarism', and what is acceptable behaviour in this respect; and this is what leads to problems in higher education. Indeed many HE students, when charged with plagiarism, will claim that they have always written their essays in this way, and can see nothing wrong with using the words of others.”
PLATO tackles this with tutorials that encourage students to develop an awareness of what constitutes plagiarism in its different forms. It also provides a thorough introduction to referencing, with formative assessments to reinforce understanding.
